Young Royals Boost Small Business

Harry and MeghanIt was terrific to read the story recently about Prince Harry and his recent bride Meghan’s trip to Cardiff and the boost this gave to a local business.

Hiut Denim a seven-year old company in Cardigan, Wales employs 16 people and makes 160 pairs of jeans each week. Each pair is signed by the person who sews them.  A decade earlier Cardigan was devastated when a factory that made 35,000 pairs of jeans was closed down and moved production to Morocco and later China.

Hiut Denim owners David and Clare Hieatt, determined to take advantage of the years of experience going to waste, started making jeans in Cardigan.

Meghan wore a pair during an official visit to Cardiff Castle with Prince Harry. Now Hiut Denim Jeans have back orders of three months - and have recruited extra staff. Fantastic!
