Jurek Leon

Jurek Leon is an Australian based trainer, consultant, storyteller and author of a number of practical books, manuals and e-books on understanding and influencing customers.

His entertaining, energising seminars and workshops are filled with practical tips, ideas and down-to-earth examples on word-of-mouth marketing, motivation, customer focused selling and designing and managing the customer experience.

In 1992 Jurek founded Terrific Trading, a Western Australian based consultancy where he goes by the title of ‘Director of Curiosity’.

Terrific Trading focuses on customer service as a way of assisting organisations to get a better result from their sales and marketing, design and manage the customer experience, foster repeat business and greatly enhance teamwork and motivation.

Australian presentations include seminars for Small Business Centres, regional Chambers of Commerce and numerous industry groups.

Jurek has presented to client groups as diverse as the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of WA and the Retirement Village Association and from small businesses to large corporations. He was involved in the development and presentation of the successful 2013 and 2014 Alice Springs Business Improvement Programs for retail and tourism based business. This included regular coaching and mentoring face-to-face, over the phone and via webinars with business owners participating in the program.

Jurek has assisted with the judging of the Australian Customer Service Awards on two occasions. He has also been a WA judge in the Australian Council of Shopping Centres Awards for Excellence in Marketing on seven occasions and has been a Gold Plate Awards judge.

Jurek has twice attended the European Conference on Customer Management in London as part of his continuing efforts to search out leading examples and ideas for his clients.

Jurek writes regularly for a number of business magazines and newsletters in Australia and New Zealand, presents a regular segment on Winston Marsh’s popular Business Marketing audio magazine and has been interviewed on radio and TV as an expert on customer service issues.

He is author of a number of publications including ‘52 Terrific Tips Guaranteed To Improve Your Selling And Service’ and ‘Terrific Telephone Techniques – the ultimate guide to excellent service over the phone’.

Jurek is an observer of retail trends and has a fascination with what sets the successful retailers apart from the rest. At the same time, as a provider of training services, he is in touch with what is happening on the retail floor on a day to day basis.

Clients include industry associations, major shopping centres, franchise groups and retailers both large and small in metropolitan and regional areas.

Jurek’s international work includes a series of one day workshops on four occasions around the UK for the National Farmers’ Retail and Markets Association (FARMA) and workshops at 12 centres around New Zealand for the NZ Retailers Association. He has also presented at the New Zealand Tourism Conference.

Jurek is author of the ‘Complete Do-It-Yourself In-Store Retail Sales Training Programme’, ‘52 Terrific Tips For Christmas’, ‘52 Terrific Tips Guaranteed to Improve Your Selling and Service’, ‘Customer Tips for Coffee Shops’, ‘Terrific Telephone Techniques’ and co-author of “Merchandising Made Simple”. He writes articles for many Australian and overseas retail and small business publications and presents a regular segment on Winston Marsh’s Business Marketing audio magazine.

He has also presented at the New Zealand Tourism Conference.

Jurek conducted workshops for retail and tourism businesses involved in the Alice Springs 12 month Business Improvement Program in 2013 and 2014 on behalf of the Darwin BEC. He also conducted successful Positively Influencing Customers projects involving a workshop and one-on-one follow up coaching in Yulara, Tennant Creek, Gove and Darwin on behalf of the NT Department of Business in 2013 and 2014 and in Katherine in 2015.

In 2013 and again in March 2014 Jurek developed and presented a ‘Valuing Visitors’ series of workshops for the WA Wheatbelt Commission to assist struggling small towns in WA’s eastern Wheatbelt.
