If you have a fear that you will be perceived as being pushy, that’s something that you really need to think through. Examine your beliefs. They could be holding you back from getting sales that your customers will in the long run thank you for.
There is a major difference between being pushy and being persistent. Customers are irritated by pushy sales people yet they admire persistence.
So, what is the difference?
Pushy is doing things from your point of view as the salesperson. Your focus is on getting the sale rather than helping the customer.
Persistence is about constantly following up because you know that what you have will make a difference for the customer (as in the cartoon below). You know that in the end customers will thank you for your persistence because it makes things better for them.
